Wisconsin Charter Fishing
This is where Wisconsin charter fishing for Lake Michigan chinook salmon starts for Captain Kurt Pokrandt. I am releasing 115,000 Chinook salmon on May 2, 2012 out of net pens in the Milwaukee marina. These fish are only fingerlings and were raised from eggs taken last fall. This is a good number for Milwaukee and will mean that Milwaukee charter fishing will be pretty good come 2015.
We use net pens to help the fish become acclimated to their environment before they are released. We also release them at night to prevent birds and other fish from feeding on them when they are released. This helps their survival rate. At least until they are old enough to be caught by Silver King Charters! The next picture in the gallery shows the baby Chinook swimming away for their first taste of freedom.
