Lake Michigan Trout Fishing Charter
This is the number one stocked fish in Lake Michigan overall and has been for over a decade. It is also the natural fish to Lake Michigan. These fish do not die when they spawn and do naturally reproduce at about a 25% rate, so their numbers are much greater than salmon. We target Lake trout throughout the season but the biggest catches come from late June through early September.
This is a fish we target near the bottom during the summer and usually are fished in 80 to 120 feet of water. During the spring and fall, we fish Lake trout close to shore and as shallow as 10 feet. They range from 2 to 20 pounds, with some running 25 to 30 plus pounds. It is a lot of fun to bring one of these fish up from the depths. Lake trout are the best smoked fish you can get in Lake Michigan and is the best way to eat them.
We use spin & glows along with dodgers when fishing deep and spoons fishing shallow for Lake trout.
