This was an early June trip out of Racine Wisconsin just outside the mouth of the Root river. Coho salmon are attracted to the mouth of the river because of the warm water and bait that is found there in the spring. We took a nice 15 pound Rainbow trout too on this trip. This area is between 10 and 30 feet deep but the best action is usually right near the surface. Peanut flies with orange dodgers are the ticket on all set ups. All of May through the third week of June is my favorite time of the year to salmon fish because of the great action and limit catches that can be had. Sometimes a little cool out but the action is hot.
