April is the best month of our season to target Brown trout. Our catches at this time of the season are at least 50% Brown trout if not 100%. We try to be fishing on April 1st depending on the weather. We are lucky to have a world class Brown trout fishery in our area of Lake Michigan. It is considered one of the best places to catch trophy Brown trout. Milwaukee to Racine is a great stretch of water to target these fish. The other great factor out of Milwaukee is the expansive harbor that allows us to fish on tough weather days in relative comfort. It is also one of the best places to be early in the season to catch Brown trout. We are usually running all spoons at this time of year and fishing in 30 feet of water or less. The fish run from 2 to 15 pounds but on occasion we pull a 20 plus pound Brown. Last season we took our 2nd 30 plus pound Brown trout. We believe a world record swims in these waters.
